• What is a pre-existing condition?

  Pre-existing condition means a condition that first existed or occurred:

  • prior to the commencement date of the first policy period; or
  • within any applicable waiting period; and
  • which you were aware of, or a reasonable person in your circumstances would have been aware, irrespective of whether the underlying or causative condition has been diagnosed.

  A pre-existing condition also includes a related condition or bilateral condition of a pre-existing condition.

• How do I apply to have a pre-existing condition reviewed?

  If your pet has had a temporary condition that was subject to the pre-existing condition exclusion, you can apply to have it reviewed.

  Your vet will need to certify and provide veterinary records verifying that the condition remains a temporary condition and has not existed, occurred or shown noticeable signs, symptoms or an abnormality for a period of 18 months. The pre-existing condition exclusion(s) will not be deemed to have been lifted unless agreed to by us in writing.

  If your pet has a chronic condition that existed or occurred before the commencement date of your first policy period or during any applicable waiting period, that condition will always be excluded from your policy.

• Is it worth it to have pet insurance?

• How does pet insurance work?

  Pet insurance covers up to a set percentage of the cost of eligible vet bills when your cat or dog gets sick or is injured. You can choose your level of cover and then make payments — usually monthly — to your provider. When it's time to make a claim, your insurer will cover a portion of the costs.

• What is the average cost of pet insurance per year?

• Does pet insurance cover dental?

  Typically, pet insurance policies do not include dental coverage. However, some policies offer a routine care plan that might offset this type of expense.

  By adding our optional routine care cover to your RSPCA Ultimate or Ultimate Plus cover policy, you can receive some reimbursement for some preventative care such as flea, tick and worm control, vaccinations, dental illness treatment and teeth cleaning for up to $80 a year.

• Does pet insurance cover for vaccinations?

  Pet insurance typically provides cover for your pet for unforeseen specified accidents and diseases, often excluding preventative treatments (particularly under basic plans). However, some policies offer an option for routine care that covers certain preventative healthcare treatments up to a specified limit. • Are X-Rays covered by pet insurance?

  With Pet Insurance, you can typically claim for diagnostic expenses including x-rays, in relation to eligible conditions covered by your policy and up to your applicable annual condition limit. Elective or routine tests as well as treatment for Pre-existing conditions are not covered.
